Awareness of Child Rights

Thanks to a grant by Oxfam Quebec, Riverkids Foundation is now able to take an extra step towards our goal of community outreach and education - through a series of workshops. There are 8 workshops all together, to be held at Riverkids' Alexandra Family House twice a month. Community leaders, Riverkids parents and children are invited to the workshops in the hope that they will start actively thinking about the issues we have been discussing and working on and spread their new knowledge to friends and relatives living around them. Here's a report and pictures from Mr Sophon, Director of Riverkids Foundation:

On 11 February in the morning at Family House of Riverkids, we organized a workshop on the topic " Awareness of Child Rights" for the young teenagers, the Parents and local authority of Psa Touch where Riverkids located. This first workshop is facilitated by staff from Licadho.

The participants included:
- 10 get ready girls
- 10 head of the groups
- 40 parents ( a half from the Blum Project)
- 1 representative of Oxfam Quebec
- 5 Riverkids staff.
- 2 facilitators from Licadho Human Rights organization.

The workshop was quite successful. We estimated 70% 0f participants understood the importance of the Rights of the child and the workshop will also help Riverkids work more successfully with the community in the future.
