I have been volunteering at Riverkids since the beginning of December and will soon be moving on. But before I go I would like to put down a few lines about my time here.
My main task at Riverkids has been to improve the administration and case management system. I have spent a lot of time organizing the children's documents and with the help of especially Navy, the counselor, all documents have been sorted out and complemented when necessary. Now each child has an individual file and all files are kept in one of the filing cabinets donated by USAID.
Apart from this, I have primarily been working with Tin and Sam Onn, the former respectively present administrator. We have had a hard time sorting out all documents in the admin room, but have managed to create at least some kind of order. The last few weeks I and Sam Onn have replaced some of the older forms with updated ones in Khmer as well as English. We have also cut at least a zillion Khmer letters, to be used on a banner in the upcoming workshops. While doing this, Soklee has happily shared her (sometimes crazy) ideas with us, thus making the endless cutting fantastic fun.
I have truly enjoyed my time at Riverkids and would like to recommend all of you out there to pay Riverkids a visit. The Riverkids project plays an important role in the lives of many vulnerable kids, teenagers and their families. It really makes a difference.
