Singapore Marathon and Riverkids

Some 40,000 runners hit the roads yesterday morning at the Singapore MArathon organised by Standard Chartered. The Newman family of one of them. Donning specially printed Riverkids shirts, the family for four conquered the marathon - Dad did the full 42.195km marathon, Mum did the half marathon at 21km *faint* and the two girls did a 750m dash. Mum, Victoria, wrote a short piece on the marathon and how it helped Riverkids! Do read! :

The Newman Family all did it! Today we all ran in the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon and have the medals to prove it! Hugh run the full marathon in 4hrs and 28mins shaving a satisfying 8 minutes from his run last year. Victoria ran in the half marathon for the first time and was extremely happy coming in at 2hrs 5mins. Kate and Phoebe (with Mumm) ran and skipped the 750m kids dash in great style.

So far we have been raised approximately SIN$3332 for Riverkids with more promised! This is an amazing amount and has far exceeded our expectations! We would like to say a big 'Thank You' to the folks at BOC Aviation and to our friends and colleagues who so generously sponsored us.
Note from Riverkids: We really really are thankful to the Newmans and all the sponsors who have come forward with their pledges! Seriously we were left quite speechless when we realised it. :)
