Cambodian health volunteers

As mentioned in previous blog entries, at Riverkids we’re always struggling to teach our students about proper hygiene and other health issues. Most of the children at Riverkids don’t have regular access to quality medical and many live in unsanitary conditions, so it’s important that they understand how to take care of themselves and keep from getting sick.
We’ve had some foreign volunteers teach health workshops, and now we’ve been lucky to find several Cambodian volunteers who have offered to teach the housemothers about proper hygiene, lessons they can then pass on to the children they care for.
The volunteers are medical students at a local university. They stopped by Riverkids last week to meet everyone and make a donation of notebooks and pencils, just in time for the new academic year, which begins on October 1st.
