Gail Fisher who works for Hosea's drug counseling and detox center set up a short workshop with some kids at Alexandra who are hooked on drugs.
She's written a great piece on Project Focus which pretty much breaks my heart.
Hosea is now working with the boys to get them ready to voluntarily enter the detox center and get another chance. These kids will need lots of chances, but oh man. They are so young.
On 7 March 2008, Riverkids participated in a Women's Day event organised by Oxfam Quebec. Sok Lee and a couple of the Bright Girls set up a booth at the exhibtion site at Steng Treng, selling products made by the girls and Riverkids parents. Here's more from Sok Lee:
The exhibition in Steng Treng was a good chance to show the activities from RKF to the public in Steang Streng. Riverkids Foundation brought our products and our photo activities for that event. 
Two from the bright girl group, managed by Ms. Soklee made that exhibition very successful. The girls worked very hard to sell the products with the smile on their faces and they sold a lot of products and earned about 130000 riel in that event.

I'm attending the Asia 21 Forum for Riverkids and while the forums themselves are largely on topics we're not involved in - a lot of business focus! - there are many fantastic people here, and lots of ideas and opinions that are inspiring me for Riverkids.
A play therapist who works with Riverkids as part of her work in Cambodia posted in her blog about a workshop she ran with our staff. It's neat to see Riverkids from the outside! The techniques and ideas she shared are being used already, and the staff really enjoyed the workshop.

James Pond's blog for his post-trafficking shelter, Transitions, in Cambodia has a great entry right now about why poverty doesn't drive trafficking.
Positive Deviance is not a new webcomic, but a strategy to prevent trafficking by figuring out why families don't sell their kids. Applied in Indonesia, we're using some of these strategies and hope to find more.
Tiny Toones is a small breakdancing group in Phnom Penh that works with at-risk kids. I don't entirely get the brekdancing thing, but then again I watched all of Dancing With Stars for Joey Fatone, so I have no cred when it comes to dance! They're exploring traditional dance and Khmer music with breakdancing and they have weekly 'dance-offs' in one of the city parks. We hope they'll be teaching our kids soon too!
(Dale Edmonds) A Singapore group in Cambodia on a Tabitha housebuilding trip visited Riverkids with stationary and school equipment for our kids, and I just got an email about their housebuilding schedule next year.
We're hoping to finally go on one next year, as it's a great way to visit Cambodia's countryside and, especially for older Cambodian adopted kids, a good way to experience regular Cambodian culture. I've met quite a few people who've been on the trips, and they all had good experiences, many going back a second time. House Building - Tabitha
Tabitha is a big rural NGO in Cambodia, and they do a lot of basic community and infrastructure work quietly and well. They're a Christian NGO, but they're not out to convert, simply to help. They have an online store which has a wide range, some country, some super-stylish. Their workmanship is good, definitely worth a visit!
