Several days ago, my colleagues and I went to the restaurant near Independence Monument to have lunch. Before we left the restaurant, I enquired with the restaurant owner if there was any job vacancy.
They told us that they had been looking for 2 girls to fill the position of Chef Assistant and Housekeeper. Each position pays a monthly salary of USD40.00 inclusive of 3 meals a day and daily accommodation. We shared with them about Riverkids’ Get Ready Girls and after discussion, we were extremely delighted to learn that they were agreeable to recruit them.
Looking for a suitable job for our Get Ready Graduates has never been easy. We need to source for suitable shops to contact, find out if there are vacancies available and explain what the Girls are good in. Sometimes, even after much persuasion, they may still not be comfortable recruiting the Girls, doubting their competence and commitment.
So far, the jobs that we have secured for the Get Ready Graduates have good prospects and allow them to practise what they have been taught. We endeavour to continue to do so that they can be kept safe.
