A rewarding day away from work - by Phy Sophon

After working so hard for 2 years, we finally had a chance to let down our hair, basked ourselves in the sun and soaked ourselves in the vast blue sea. Our long awaited trip to the Kompongsom beach took place on 7 January 2010 – a day away from the hustle and bustle at the office and schools.

Fun started the moment we boarded the bus. We had a battle between the sexes in a singing competition, organized by Pheakdey on our way to Kompongsom. All except Sophea, participated because he got carsick. But all is well thereafter.

At the beach, we swam, played ball games and had sea food, prepared fresh from the sea! We were enjoying ourselves so much that going back to the guesthouse was a drag.

We had an “Appreciation Ceremony” at the end of the day where our staff were given written words of encouragement from one another.

This was indeed a rewarding retreat where we get to relax, reflect and recharge for the year 2010. Last but not least, we want to thank Sister Dale, the President of Riverkids for approving our trip!
