For nearly a year, around 35 kids from Riverkids and kids from other NGOs have been attending football training conducted by Happy Football Cambodia Australia-HFCA. Eventually, two kids from Riverkids and 3 kids from CCH were selected to participate in Homeless World Cup in Australia from 01-07 December 2008. The following is the expression of thanks by Mr. Paraic, the representative of HFCA.
Hello all, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to a very successful week of top class coaching from Inter Milan FC Campus at Northbridge International school. The 60 children had a fantastic time and both Inter Milan coaches Fabrizo Piccareta and Gabrille Raspelli really enjoyed working not just with the children but everyone that assisted with the project. They both said they were very impressed with the professionalism of HFCA, the Happy School, ISF, Riverkids, CCH (Centre for Children Happiness), FCC and especially Northbridge. Aside from the football coaching Fabrizio and Gabriele were deeply moved by the poverty they witnessed and on several occasions especially when we visited the

Rubbish Dump tears were shed. They really enjoyed the Water festival and spending time with Cambodians who showed how warm and friendly they can be. I seriously doubt whether either of them will ever forget their time in Cambodia. On a personal note I want to thank Chi Phalla, Mech Sokha, Phy Sophon, Pheak Dey, Kate Griffen for the fantastic work they did inensuring that all the players were there on time and filling out all the required paperwork. Thanks to Sonny Chhoun for his translating skills and no problem attitude to logistics, Sonny was one of the best Cambodians I have ever met and kept us constantly entertained with his "funny sunny" stories. Thanks to FCC owner Steve for taking us out for dinner Wednesday night and his enthusiasm on the football pitch at Fridays game. Thanks to Iccy Harrington for his amazing efforts. Mik La Vage and his assistant Bell for their great efforts. We are all looking forward to seeing "The Kicking Fields" Documentary. Thanks to Northbridge's Ray Yager and ISF's Leo Brogan for their support, Thanks to UEFA B coaches Sam Schweingruber and Jimmy Campbell for all their hard work assisting the Inter Milan coaches. They worked extremely hard all week and showed their love for the Beautiful game. I want to especially thank Anthony Alderson and Laurence Karatau. Anthony guided me thought what was a logistical nightmare during the first week I was in Phnom Penh. Laurence took a massive risk allowing us to use the Northbridge facilities and impressed everyone with his professionalism. HFCA (Happy Football Cambodia Australia) believe this venture with Inter Milan in Cambodia is the start of a long term partnership between HFCA and Inter Milan working together for the foreseeable future in Cambodia. It took 2 years and 8 months to finally reach an agreement to get Inter Milan here the first time but I seriously doubt it will take that long to bring them over again. Myself and Fabrizio have been in touch several times since Monday last week via email, mobile and skype and we are both confident that Inter Milan will be coming back hopefully in November next year. A lot of hard work needs to be done between now and then but the first time is always the hardest and we have proved its possible. On another note the Cambodian National Team arrived in Melbourne today for the Homeless World Cup. Its starting next Tuesday and everyone is really excited about taking part. Go Cambodia! Regards
